Before cutting, tie up multiple pony tails (where you can) with elastic bands down the length of the pony tail. The hair needs to be a minimum length of 20cm clean and dry. ‘Ella Wigmakers’ will accept all types of hair. Always check what percentage of your fundraising donation will benefit the kids. Wigs 4 Kids™ campaign doesn’t receive free wigs in return for your donated hair as there is often 60hrs work in a wig. Cutting your hair and making a hair donation is a major step so please always check where your beautiful hair is going, and that it won’t be sold overseas.
Our Wigs 4 Kids™ campaign is one of the only campaigns where the donated human hair is used for kids wigs. Rest assured your beautiful locks will be used as a direct hair donation. We are now working in conjunction with ‘Ella Wigmakers’ on the Central Coast NSW. Many times we were directed to sell the hair to overseas wig makers. We contacted many wig makers in Australia to find one that would accept a free hair donation for kids wigs. Kids With Cancer Foundation does not take direct hair donations. It’s also a great way to build awareness about childhood cancer and some of the effects of cancer treatments. So please continue to fundraise in this way. All the money raised from our ‘Wigs 4 Kids™’ campaign goes directly to help the families and the sick kids.
